Project Description:
I ran into a pair of Polk Monitor 7b’s with the Peerless tweeter for under a hundred bucks. Mainly because the cabinets were trashed. However the drivers and passive radiator ‘s looked almost brand new. And…they sounded amazing. So I decided something had to be done.
Design Goals:
Refurbishing a set of true classics.
Driver Selection:
Factory Polk and Peerless
Enclosure Design
It was already an inch thick so I added one brace in the center, sealed the inside with a rubberized paint and added some batting.
Crossover Design:
I decided to keep the stock crossovers and just recap them and not remove the tweeter protection.
Tips & Tricks:

Conclusion:
Got to be expensive, so I wrote this up for the Parts Express coupon. But, it was well worth the hours of sanding and Bondo. They are gorgeous again. And sound amazing.
About the Designer:
Well I guess it helps out that I used to design and build cabinets and interior in Sea Ray yachts
