Drive-in Bluetooth

Project Category:

Portable Speakers

Project Level:

Beginner

Project Time:

8-20 Hours

Project Cost:

$100-$500

Project Description:

This is an original drive-in movie speaker rig I picked up with the intentions of modifying/modernizing it for Bluetooth capabilities.

Design Goals:

I wanted a completely wireless, mobile Bluetooth speaker set up to take anywhere I want to go. I loved drive-in movies and thought it would be awesome to freak out family and friends when I fire this badboy up!

Driver Selection:

PC105-4 4″ poly cone speakers

Enclosure Design:

Speaker holder (top of pole )

Crossover Design:

N/A

Tips & Tricks:

No tips or tricks needed, just have fun and use your imagination.

Conclusion:

I did not want to sacrifice original speakers or the housing so I made my own control panel from 26ga. sheet metal. All wiring runs up through the housing using existing holes. I used Velcro to secure the circuit boards to the housing. The control panel is a simple 3 3/4″ x 4 1/2″ x 1 1/4″ deep box that I made and is secured to the top of the pole via 2 screws with nuts and lock washers. The speakers attached to the original housings with no modifications needed!
